Considering Medical Alert Devices
August 10, 2017
According to the National Council on Aging (NCOA) for seniors, falls are the leading causes of fatal and non-fatal injuries. For every 11 seconds one senior is treated at the ER for a fall and every 19 minutes a senior dies from a fall!
While they are horrifying statistics, they can be changed with a medical alert device. Medical alert devices don’t prevent a fall from occurring, but it could at least prevent further damage or even death.
Medical alert devices offer seniors safety and the ability to get immediate help, which is so important for seniors, especially those who live alone.
The medical alert devices offered by Guardian Angels HomeCare are used to enhance the care we provide giving seniors their freedom and independence to go anywhere with confidence. All the devices we offer are simple, safe and easy to use.
The most advanced device offered by us is the Personal Emergency Response System with GPS and Fall Detection. This device is used to track motion, alerting us if the device senses a lack of activity that may signal a health emergency. It also detects when the person wearing it falls and automatically calls to check on them. The GPS inside the device allows us to locate the person if they are unable to call out or do not answer a call. For the features of this device and additional information, click here.
When a senior falls they are not always able to seek help. Our devices provide the assistance seniors need to feel independent and safe when they are at home or out in the community.
